Many Australians will know this famous song about Indigenous rights. I was fortunate enough to see Paul Kelly at the Barunga Festival earlier this month. It was an emotional experience listening to this beautiful song at an Indigenous cultural festival.
I was also fortunate to meet Paul Kelly briefly after my new Yappa (sister) Miliwanga Wurrben asked me to tell Peter Garrett (ex-Midnight Oil and former labour cabinet minister; I hold him in high regard) about Sharing Culture. In the picture below, you'll see Miliwanga and Margaret Katherine with Paul, Peter and the politician Warren Snowdon after introducing their bush medicine on stage to the Barunga audience.
You can read more here about this song, which is based on the story of the Gurindji strike and Vincent Lingiari as part of the Indigenous Australian struggle for land rights and reconciliation.
