Tom E. LewisTom E. Lewis is a veteran of the Australian stage and screen, with a career spanning four decades in film, television, theatre, music and cultural development.
He is Artistic Director of the Walking With Spirits Festival and founding Director of Djilpin Arts Aboriginal Corporation. Tom played didjeridu all over the world for acclaimed jazz duo Lewis & Young (1990 to 2001). He since released several CDs which have received critical acclaim. Tom made his film debut in the lead role of Fred Schepisi’s 1978 classic The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, and has appeared in a number of films since. Anne Poelina
Dr Anne Poelina, Managing Director of Madjulla Incorporated is a Nyikina Traditional Custodian from the Mardoowarra, Lower Fitzroy River. She has developed a deep understanding of issues impacting on Indigenous Australians living in remote locations from working in the areas of Indigenous health, education, language and community development.
Growing up in Broome, Derby and out on country has led to Anne loving and respecting land, law and culture. She has since studied the historical colonial context of development in the West Kimberley and how that impacts on contemporary Indigenous participation in decision-making, governance, land and water reform. She has also explored different models of developing green collar jobs in the culture and conservation economy for the West Kimberley. Anne is a Master Public Heath and Tropical Medicine, Master Education, Master Arts (Indigenous Social Policy), Doctor of Philosophy, and Registered Nurse. |
